Position Summary
The Process Engineer serves as the technical lead of his/her production department. The individual will leverage technical and analytical experience to develop new processes. The role also supports ongoing production efforts to ensure the highest level of quality, compliance with the procedure, and output. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises, moving mechanical parts, or fumes in the manufacturing environment.

- Solves technical problems facing the Production department
- Provides mentorship to production personnel
- Identify and eliminate technical barriers that prevent the department from reaching goals (quality, revenue, and profit)
- Collaborates upfront with the continuous improvement manager to form & sustain lean/continuous improvement teams at the departmental level
- Provides data and input as needed to ERP/QA groups for BOM/Route/WI's etc.
- Supports CAPEX activities for new departmental equipment
- As part of contract review, provides technical input for new programs, new machines, new capabilities
- Work with outside consultants, vendors, contract manufacturers, and suppliers
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand
- Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors
- Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision
Qualifications
Required
- At least 5 years of experience in a Process Engineering role in manufacturing.
- Four (4) year college degree in an engineering field or equivalent level of on-the-job experience in extrusion, molding, wire/cable, or plastics assembly
- Experience in plastics processing production environment, with a specific understanding of tooling and materials
- Understanding of Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
- Knowledge of standard manufacturing documentation (routers, BOMs, WI's etc.)
- Strong organizational skills required
- Must pay strong attention to detail
- Strong understanding of product and process needs
- Basic knowledge of Project Management required
- High level of interpersonal, and communication skills (works closely with Production, Engineering QA, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement teams)
- Ability to act with assertion while maintaining a professional discipline to achieve goals
