The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Environmental Management, is recruiting to fill a Groundwater Section Manager (Natural Resources Program Manager) vacancy. This position will be stationed out of the DNR Headquarters in Madison, WI. Telework is available for up to 60% of the work week!

Position Summary

This position administers and leads the groundwater quality management section within the Drinking Water and Groundwater (DG) program. In this position, you will be responsible for managing groundwater quality protection in Wisconsin through the development and integration of groundwater quality standards, groundwater quality monitoring, source water protection activities, and maintenance of the Groundwater Retrieval Network (GRN) shared data management system.

Salary Information

Starting pay is $42.00 - $50.83 per hour ($87,360 - $105,726.40 annually) in pay schedule and range 81-02.

Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 2% General Wage Adjustment is anticipated to take effect June 30 th , 2024.

This position includes an excellent benefits package, including health care, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits. A two-year trial period may be required.

Job Details

This position requires occasional in-state travel and infrequent out-of-state travel for meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

Please make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications.

Required qualifications include the following:
  • Professional experience in groundwater quality management or similar regulatory programs (e.g., water quality monitoring, environmental data management/analysis, drinking water quality, etc.)
  • Experience leading a team to accomplish a goal (could be formal or informal team leadership, project management, etc.)
  • Professional experience interpreting Wisconsin Environmental Laws and regulations
Best-qualified applicants will also have experience with at least one of the following:
  • Developing new policies and regulation through Wisconsin Administrative Code revisions
  • Formal Supervisory experience (e.g., responsible for coaching/mentoring, hiring, performance evaluations, etc.)
  • Collaborating across organizations or groups from a wide variety of backgrounds to accomplish a goal (e.g., federal, tribal, state and/or local governments, non-profit organizations, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree or greater related to Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or similar
