JOB SUMMARY

MerQube is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations and help drive the company's growth. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented and will nail the numbers, but where they shine is in collaboration with the CFO and executive leaders to shape our financial future. With a deep understanding of GAAP, you will be responsible for developing and refining accounting policies and processes. As a key member of our team, you will influence decision-making across the company and be involved in broader initiatives, thereby directly impacting MerQube's strategic direction. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Financial Process Oversight: Develop, manage, and enforce GAAP-compliant procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial reporting.
  • Financial Operations: Oversee monthly and quarterly close processes, manage accounts receivables and payables, and maintain immaculate record keeping for quick decision making. Also ensure smooth audit processes through robust internal controls.
  • Budgeting & Analysis: Create and maintain budgeting tools, including budget-to-actual variance reporting, financial planning and analysis, cash flow analysis, and cost savings analysis.
  • Payroll Management: Manage payroll budgeting across multiple geographies, audit payroll for accuracy, and
  • Collaborative Initiatives: Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to anticipate and evaluate business needs, ensuring our financial systems support the company's growth.
  • Impact: Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives, contributing to the company's strategic planning and execution.

SKILLS & PREREQUISITES
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, FP&A or accounting roles
  • Experience within financial services industry, with financial data vendors and/or index contracts is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; MBA is a plus
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, GAAP, SaaS accounting, ASC 606
  • Proficient in preparing statistical and financial reports, and making data-driven recommendations
  • Experience with three statement financial modeling
  • Ability to articulate accounting systems and processes clearly
  • Knowledge of tax processes is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (QuickBooks, Maxio and Bill.com)
  • Familiarity with payroll software vendors such as TriNet and Papaya
  • Ability to thrive in a startup environment, balancing appropriate structure with speed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
