Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine is seeking a Clinician Educator to work in the Advanced Geriatric Care Program. The Advanced Geriatric Care Program is a multi-faceted care system including:office-based medical care for adults who are comparatively mobile; home-basedcare both short-term and long-term for those that are less mobile; nursing homecare; inpatient consult service; behavioral health counseling; pharmacyconsultation; fully developed telemedicine services (triage, counseling,monitoring, video-visits); and care management and social work services. Patients will receive primary care if theyneed or want a new medical home and consultative care if their medical home isstrong but needs augmentation with geriatric consultation, home care,telemedicine or other consultative service.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching: To support teaching directly via interactions with Fellows, residents, medical students, and non-physician professionals. (Affiliate faculty appointment)
Research: To support the research mission of the Division.
Service: To provide service of the highest quality to the people of the state of Virginia and beyond.
Clinical: To be responsible for managing a panel ofpatients throughout the continuum of care. To assure that care is timely, appropriate, of high quality, and costeffective. To create and enhance systems to assure thatall patients receive planned, evidence-based care and care is fully coordinatedwith ongoing continuity for the patient, family and caregiver. To workcollaboratively with Attendings, Fellows, Residents, NPs, PAs, and other staffto ensure a team-based approach to care is fostered. To understand and welcome the importance ofroles as care providers, team members, and major influencers of our community'sperception of the geriatrician's quality and service. Sharing night call (onein thirteen currently).
Other: (administrative duties, etc.) Submit billing and document care as required by the organization. Abide by all medical staff requirements. Participate in quality initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
- BC/BE in Internal Medicine or equivalent
- Must be comfortable working with an interdisciplinary team including nurse practitioners and pharmacists, and must integrate well with members of an extended care team
- Must have direct experience managing complex adult patients with a solid understanding of the geriatrician role and function
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Geriatric fellowship training strongly preferred for most physicians
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records preferred
