Overview

Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) - recognized by the Washington Post as a Top Workplace - is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer. You will provide technical guidance and demonstrate leadership to one of our program's engineering teams. You will lead complex, time-sensitive projects and serve in Tier 3 engineering support role for the enterprise data network platforms, performing various activities such as but not limited to troubleshooting, performance issues and performing break-fix network changes. You will be the go-to for advanced engineering projects and drive technical resolution of High-Severity & Low Severity Incidents and will provide direct support of Problem Management process, including Post-Mortem participation and presentations. You will help govern device remediation and Operational Resiliency activities.

What You'll Do

  • Be the technical lead on high-priority network and cloud projects
  • Help develop technical strategies and project plans
  • Plan, implement, and maintain systems configuration
  • Manage installations both on-site and remotely
  • Work within Azure, collaborating with Cloud engineers to support migration efforts and maintaining a hybrid environment.
  • Document and transfer knowledge to fellow staff through training, coaching and mentoring
  • Configure network infrastructure device operating systems, determine hardware specifications, and validate system performance.
  • Execute performance tuning, operational process development, and security configuration management in accordance with best practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain network infrastructure devices including, but not limited to patching, system upgrade, backup, and system configuration.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine the real or underlying cause of an incident in order to prevent future recurrences.
  • Support analysis, triage and break/fix of infrastructure system-related trouble tickets.
  • Produce detailed network design documents and diagrams
  • Help maintain, manage, upgrade, and optimize hardware and software
  • Be responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance
  • Perform routine software, hardware, firmware upgrades, patches, and fixes
  • Follow configuration management procedures
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications and system documentation
  • Contribute to cybersecurity
  • Recommend technical standards and policies
  • Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement hardware and software
  • Analyze and help improve system performance
  • Provide TIER II and/or TIER III support services as needed
  • Conduct systems inventory and updates asset management documentation
  • Document and update systems architecture drawings and server rack elevations using Microsoft Visio
  • Provides technical assistance, training and system documentation for users to promote efficient operation of applications.


Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, computer science, or in information technology, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years experience supporting network infrastructure projects within a complex, multi-vendor environment
  • 7+ years demonstrated experience in designing and implementing network supporting data-center system virtualization, application load balancing, application hosting, application acceleration
  • 7+ years of enterprise and campus networking includes but not limited Cisco Switches and Routers, Cisco ISE, 802.1x, LAN, Remote Access VPN
  • Experience supporting networks running Cisco UC and/or MS Teams VoIP systems
  • In addition to Cisco IOS and Nexus experience, possess strong to advanced knowledge of security, routing / switching, carrier services, data center services and network support for VoIP systems
  • Strong knowledge of the following technologies:
    • Cisco ACI
    • Firewall management and configuration, with and understanding of network security and defense-in-depth strategies
    • Understanding of high-availability design including replication and load balancing
    • IPSEC and SSL VPNs

  • Working knowledge of system hardening (STIGs, SRGs, regulatory compliance)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cisco VPN & Zscaler ZIA and ZPA, Cisco ACI
  • Expert troubleshooting skills
  • Have supported networks running Cisco UC
  • Some limited travel required (< 5%)
  • Must be available for off-hours work and participate in rotating on-call responsibilities


Nice to Haves

  • CCNA, CCNP or CCIE Datacenter Routing and Switching certification
  • Strong experience directly related to cloud networking (Azure, AWS, Openstack, VMware), SD-WAN, SDN (software defined network)
  • CompTIA Security +
  • ITIL or other IT operations knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of SAFe Agile, Jira and Confluence
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and integration into enterprise IT Services team
  • Experience with Cloud providers, cloud migrations and supporting a hybrid environment is desired
