Position Summary:

Associate Director, EHS Site Lead, will lead Environmental, Health, and Safety at our Novato, Brisbane, and South San Francisco locations. This is a highly visible role that works closely with senior leaders to establish site EHS strategy and maintain a comprehensive EHS management system. This leader will play a key role in driving a culture of EHS excellence and will guide the organization towards becoming a leader in the Life Sciences industry.

Work Model:

Core Lab & Ops: This role typically requires that the majority of the work be conducted on-site and thus will be subject to certain on-site safety protocols during the pandemic.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish site EHS priorities and targets, evaluate and report on EHS performance, and regularly review management system effectiveness.
  • Perform hazard identification, risk assessment, and gap analysis of site activities and develop risk-based corrective action plans. Key areas include laboratory safety, contractor management, hazardous chemicals, and waste management.
  • Proactively partner with senior leaders and stakeholders to influence strategically, clarify expectations, and obtain buy-in to deliver desired EHS outcomes.
  • Establish and lead team of multidisciplinary EHS professionals to maintain a safe and healthy workplace and minimize environmental impact in a sustainable manner.
  • Lead EHS workstream during design of new facilities to ensure regulatory compliance is met and EHS considerations are addressed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements as well as conformance to industry requirements and standards.
Requirements:
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with biological (BSL-2) and chemical safety in research, development, and vivarium
  • Ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective and positive organizational relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with proven collaboration and interpersonal leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high impact and cross-functional teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHMM) preferred.
  • Travel approximately 10% #LI-CS1 #LI-Onsite


The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.

Pay Range

$182,800-$225,800 USD
