It is anticipated that the grant will be funded for two years (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026). The Multilingual Curriculum Specialist will play a critical role in advancing equitable instructional practices for multilingual learners within Minnesota schools. Primary responsibilities include leading the development, implementation, and dissemination of high-quality instructional materials and resources.

Work Environment: This position will primarily work remotely, but will be required to attend occasional meetings at the Southeast Service Cooperative office in Rochester, MN based on job duties. The Multilingual Curriculum Specialist will play a critical role in advancing equitable instructional practices for multilingual learners within Minnesota schools. Primary responsibilities include leading the development, implementation, and dissemination of high-quality instructional materials and resources.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with content experts, educators, and administrators to design an open-access repository of research-based instructional materials aligned to Minnesota State Standards
- Ensure that materials are aligned with WIDA English Language Development Standards and address the academic strengths and needs of multilingual learners at multiple proficiency levels
- Develop cross-curricular common formative language assessments to support all language domains
- Provide professional development sessions on curricular implementation for educators and administrators.
- Foster a culturally and linguistically responsive approach to teaching and learning
- Create resources and learning opportunities to support schools with selecting and implementing high-quality instructional materials based on need/context
- Develop role-based toolkits for various school personnel (administrators, counselors, teachers, information and technology specialists, and educational support professionals)
- Outline evidence-based practices and legal responsibilities related to multilingual education
- Create turn-key resources that can be localized to support schools and families
- Facilitate reciprocal engagement between schools and multilingual families regarding curriculum options in multiple languages
- Collaborate on research and dissemination plan for project information
- Attend virtual and in-person meetings with the Project Director and Project Team
- Other duties may be assigned given project needs and the applicant's interests and expertise
- MA or PhD in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field
- Experience designing, selecting and implementing curriculum resources for multilingual learners
- Robust knowledge of culturally and linguistically responsive curriculum design
- Robust knowledge and experience implementing the 2020 WIDA English Language Development framework
- Ability to apply inclusive and accessible design features to all content
- Technology literacy, including word processing and various other software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
- Ability to understand and manage key project or program metrics
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow consistent procedures
- Exceptional time management skills to meet project deadlines and milestones
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for education, multilingual learners, and equity in education
- Valid MN Driver's License and ability to travel throughout Minnesota
