Summary

The Department of Neurology is looking to recruit a Senior Manager, Clinical Research to manage the overall operations of the clinical trials for the department. The candidate will manage financial aspects of clinical trials while ensuring adherence to college policies and regulatory standards. The candidate will be knowledgeable in clinical triage management, coordination, and pre/post award financial management. A successful candidate will be able to lead a team of clinical research professionals while providing routine updates on budget and trial status to key stakeholders.

The Senior Manager, Clinical Research will oversee their own portfolio of clinical research trials while supervising the clinical research team. The Senior Manager will oversee the implementation and operationalization of the Department Chair's strategic vision for clinical research.

The Department of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine provides personalized care for patients with neurological disease, trains medical students and residents in clinical care and research, conducts research to advance the art and science of neurology, and provides meaningful new therapies for patients.

Job Duties

  • Manages a team of research administrators and coordinators including defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance expectations, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Ensures efficient daily research operations including trial/study planning, personnel oversight, and project management.
  • Responsible for the financial aspects of the clinical trials, including developing and negotiating budgets and pre and post award financial management.
  • Utilizes the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) for accurate invoicing of clinical trials.
  • Serves as the liaison between the Primary Investigator (PI) and the sponsor, including meetings, site visits, and other correspondence, as needed.
  • Manages the effort allocation and sourcing for the clinical trials PIs, Co-PIs, and Staff.
  • Monitors progress and performance of clinical trials and/or research studies, including quality of services, timelines, and compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees clinical research quality assurance and quality control programs for the department.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of the clinical trial administration process.
  • Ensures adherence to College policies and regulatory standards.
  • May assist with or manage special projects as periodically assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical trial administration, budget development, and contract management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to Department leadership and personnel clearly.
  • Ability to display a professional and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across the Department.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently on projects, particularly on process improvement.
  • Ability to present complex information to clinical leadership and personnel clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
