Required: Must hold an Administrative License with a minimum of 5 years Leadership experience. Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences in written and oral form. In addition, demonstrate the ability to: employ effective coaching and facilitation skills to lead school leadership teams to plan for and respond to learning across the content areas; reflect and apply knowledge from current research on best practices for improving school culture and learning environments; collaborate with others and facilitate groups to consensus; and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Utah state Leadership standards and Tooele County School's administrative evaluation system.
Position goal
The Area Director is responsible for supporting high quality school leadership and instruction by coaching school principals and leadership teams. This includes developing the knowledge, skills and abilities in these teams to effectively implement District priorities; providing differentiated support to specific school leaders; and monitoring efforts to ensure implementation that will lead to student success. Also responsible for working collaboratively with the all district departments to facilitate support between the District offices and schools.
The Area Director shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below:

The Area Director shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below:
- Provide guidance to school leaders to develop or enhance processes and procedures to ensure fidelity of implementation of District initiatives and school priorities.
- Lead school administrator teams in conducting classroom observations to calibrate observation skills and provide actionable feedback.
- Assist school leadership teams in creating collaborative learning environments and climates for students, staff, and stakeholders.
- Assist school leaders in building the capacity of school staff to promote standards driven instruction and professional growth within professional learning communities.
- Facilitate opportunities for school leaders across school sites to collaborate and learn from one another.
- Assist with the coordination of instructional programs and services to ensure efficient implementation and avoid duplication or overlap of efforts and support a systemic approach to curriculum and instructional planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with all other departments in the district office to provide targeted support and services for assigned schools.
- Assist in analyzing and interpreting student data, performance metrics, and teacher and administrator observation and evaluation data to improve leadership and teacher practices.
- Assist schools in making connections between Utah Teaching Standards and the District's Evaluation System.
- Establish and maintain a trusting, confidential and non-evaluative relationship with principals.
- Provide input in the development and implementation of the curricular and accountability goals associated with the School Improvement Plan(SIP).
- Design and facilitate research-based professional learning for school administrators.
- Participate successfully in on going professional learning to increase the individual skills and proficiency related to the assignments.
- Demonstrate high standards of honesty, integrity, flexibility and responsiveness.
- Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies of The Tooele County School District.
- Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
- Provide coaching and support to principals that focuses on instructional leadership, school culture, data-analysis and data-driven decision-making, and community and family engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
