Structural Engineer IV

Moffatt & Nichol has an opening for a Structural Engineer IV in Norfolk, VA. Job duties include: Design waterfront structures and marine infrastructures projects. Perform structural analysis, design and detailing for concrete, steel, timber, and other materials. Inspect and conduct rehabilitation of waterfront structures. Responsible for project budgets, contracting strategies, scheduling document preparation and asset management. Requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience. Requires 2 years of experience in the following occupation: Civil Engineers or related occupations. Must have two (2) years of experience with/in: At least three of the following software and/or tools, such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, SAP2000, LPile, Civil3D, Apile, SupportIT, and/or SlopeW; Finite element modeling; Working from conceptual layout through the design process of marine structures; Designing and analyzing steel and concrete structures, including site inspection of wharf precast edge beams, and checking pile plugs for wharf and rearrangement of plug reinforcement; Detailed design and preparation on drawings for precast concrete fender supports; Calculating fender/energy reaction; Reviewing Marial Take Off (MTO) for the wharf structure; and Preparing and reviewing drawings, technical specifications, capacity assessment reports, cost estimates, and construction schedule.
