Our client is looking for a Messaging Specialist for their Cloud Program, Cloud Platform Services project. The Cloud Platform Services supports the our client's fully integrated Cloud products Cloud landing zones and M365 services that enable APS staff to work more collaboratively and efficiently as they deliver valuable programs and services to Albertans. The Cloud Platform Services area is also responsible for the continuous service improvement and continuous service development of those services and products.
Reporting to the Team Lead, our client Messaging Services, this role will support various IT services: Exchange Online, MS Teams support, M365 security, Exchange Online Protection, and others.
This role will be responsible for ticket fulfillment according to service level targets for incidents, changes tickets, and problems related to Microsoft 365 workloads.
The role will also provide recommendations, including details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to internal/external influences and the methodology to be applied in optimizing the configuration of MS Teams, Exchange Online, Microsoft Defender, MS Purview and other cloud-based solutions.
This successful candidate will have working knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure environments including general concepts of workstation/server hardware, software build and push strategies, and a general understanding of line-of-business applications and architectures. The successful candidate must have a sound understanding of IT Change and Communication Management and User Acceptance Testing frameworks. Our client require the candidate to have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. A proven ability to function on an individual basis and in a team environment is essential. The candidate awareness of our client existing and department IT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices is an asset.

Responsibilities:
- Apply and interpret how the operation guidelines enhance the department's way of doing business.
- Review new services and technology requests by business area and assess their impact on the operational environment, giving recommendations for remediation.
- Assist in developing action plans, schedules, and estimates pertaining to architectural deployment and services delivery.
- Assist in developing task lists and resource assignments within the context of architectural planning and deployments.
- Evaluate current services and recommend remedial actions where required.
- Hands-on implementation, upgrading, troubleshooting of messaging software and hardware infrastructure.
- Perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
- Provide quality control on production implementations.
- Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work as required.
- Develop and maintain documentation.
- Develop messaging related procedures.
- Effective teamwork and proficient communication with team members, management team and supported ministries.
- Provide cross training and knowledge transfer to team members.
Mandatory Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Math or Engineering or equivalent experience.
Travel/Flexible Schedule
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and/or during block time/change windows outside of our client normal business hours (8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alberta time, Monday to Friday).
Work Experience
- Experience designing, planning, implementing and supporting an Exchange 2007/2010/2016 environment or Exchange Online in large organization of comparable size and complexity to our client.
- Experience supporting email security related services like anti-spam, anti-phishing, access management.
- Experience supporting Skype for Business or Microsoft Teams in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with Microsoft architecture, installation and administration in a multi-server environment.

- Experience collecting requirements, analyzing, designing or implementing M365 products and services, either on-premises or in a cloud infrastructure-as-a-service environment.
- Experience configuring and maintaining Quest Exchange Migration Wizard.
- Experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Teams
- Experience in our client Domain environment or an environment of equivalent size and complexity.
- Experience in user identity verification processes, and maintaining user IDs, passwords and accounts permission levels for business applications.
- Experience migrating from an on premise Skype for Business environment to Microsoft Teams.
- Experience performing access management activities to Microsoft 365 tenants.
- Experience performing Information Management related activities like litigation hold, e-discovery, retention schedules for M365 services
- Experience supporting bulk mail delivery solutions
- Experience with AntiSpam Administration.
- Experience with the creation and implementation of naming standards, usage standards and best practices.
- Experience working in or for the public sector.
