How can you make an impact?

Reporting to Editorial Manager, the Supervising Editor will manage editorial production responsibilities of digital content delivered via our Connect learning platform and/or in print. These projects have aggressive schedules that require detailed tracking, agility, and problem-solving to deliver on time to market. The Supervising Editor collaborates internally (with content developers, portfolio, production) and externally (with authors, subject matter experts, and global partners) to produce accessible and quality learning products that meet customer needs.

This role is open to candidates located within Canada and requires a hybrid setup including two days per week in our Toronto office.

What you will be doing:
  • Act as content quality champion, liaising with development team, subject matter experts, digital specialists, and vendor partners from initial product design to go-live.
  • Lead, establish, and clearly communicate a realistic and efficient project plan (including scope, schedule, and quality of deliverables) for all assigned projects.
  • Manage global partners and resources to ensure successful completion of all assigned projects. Evaluate performance, quality of work, and compliance with project design and overall specifications.
  • Execute projects on time, within budget, and in adherence to quality standards.
  • Demonstrate solid communication, decision-making skills, collaboration, and creativity by advising and resolving challenges as they arise.
  • Maintain high levels of performance with emphasis on results and cooperation across functional teams on various product assignments.
  • Oversee product interior and cover design processes to completion.
  • Contribute to digital optimization efforts by embracing new technologies and establishing efficient processes for working with them.
  • Collaborate across teams on initiatives; assist in developing and amending standards and guidelines.
  • Coach/train editorial stakeholders and vendors regarding best practices, content quality, productivity enhancements, speed to market, etc.
  • Perform final quality and accessibility checks before output and final delivery.

We're looking for someone who has:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years editorial and project management experience including digital content publishing and establishing and maintaining third party relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills such as time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proven agility; able to succeed in fast-paced environment managing multiple and competing priorities and deadlines while ensuring consistent forward progress on projects.
  • Ability to work independently or on multifunctional teams.
  • Recognizes problems or challenges and responds quickly to make timely decisions.
  • Demonstration of flexibility by adapting and modeling behavior in response to changing conditions, processes, and applications.
  • Experience working within digital authoring templates.
  • Keeps abreast of technology-enabled learning and desire to drive change.
  • Experience working with technology teams in an agile environment.
  • Familiarity of digital design and WCAG accessibility guidelines.
  • Proficiency in using all MS Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, Sharepoint.
