What we're looking for:
Nexamp is seeking to hire a Grid Integration Program Manager. In this role, you will play an integral role in driving the seamless integration of distributed generation solutions into the existing electrical grid. You will execute all aspects of utility interconnection projects, working closely with utilities, internal teams, external consultants, and third-party development partners to facilitate the successful integration of community solar projects. You will drive interconnection progress through the full lifecycle of development and construction projects, leveraging strong market knowledge and utility relationships to mitigate interconnection challenges and delays.
In this role, you will be based out of our Chicago office. We are also open to remote from California, Colorado, Arizona, Minnesota, or Nevada. You will report to the Manager, Grid Integration Engineering.

What you'll do:
- Lead and manage multistate, utility-specific interconnection processes from inception to permission to operate, including scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
- Liaise with utility staff and foster enduring relationships with utility staff, contract partners, and other key stakeholders to facilitate efficient interconnection processes.
- Collaborate with engineering and other technical experts to ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, and safety standards for interconnection.
- Establish in-depth knowledge of utility-specific interconnection applications, tariffs, standards, and requirements for interconnecting front-of-the-meter generation.
- Maintain full ownership of the interconnection application process, including facilitating the preparation and submission of all required applications and documentation, identifying critical interconnection milestones and risks, and communicating with appropriate stakeholders.
- Coordinate interconnection study review with internal teams to assess and/or challenge utility findings.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure adherence to company criteria and requirements.
- Prepare regular progress reports and present interconnection status updates for internal stakeholders, including reports on interconnection application status, studies in progress, project closeout status and final completion (PTO) forecast.
- Support construction and O&M teams in project commissioning.
- Support engineering in optimizing project design and equipment selection in alignment with utility interconnection requirements.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in business, project management, engineering, renewable energy, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience with renewable energy project management, with a focus on utility interconnection.
- Strong knowledge of interconnection regulations, standards, and processes.
- Familiarity with distributed energy resource system components and design.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with utility staff to drive interconnection outcomes.
- Strong project management skills, PMP preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, Procore, and various other construction management tools preferred.
- Willingness to travel at least 10%.

- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
