Primary Purpose:

Provide leadership and coordination to provide a successful, aligned, and articulated instructional program in fine arts. Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from accredited university with a major in a fine arts content area
Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for a fine arts content area
Valid Texas administrator certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of fine arts curriculum design and implementation
Knowledge of extracurricular competitions in fine arts
Ability to assist in development of successful competitive groups
Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver professional development
Ability to interpret data
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
Five years teaching experience in a fine arts content area Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
  • Work directly with fine arts teachers and fine arts directors to ensure that effective instructional strategies are implemented with students for the best learning to occur.
  • Develop successful extracurricular competition programs in the performing arts.
  • Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all fine arts subject area programs.
  • Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in each fine arts subject area.
  • Plan, improve, and oversee evaluation program for each fine arts subject area.
  • Obtain and use evaluative findings to examine program effectiveness for each fine arts subject area.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.
  • Staff Development
  • Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in designated subject areas.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in each fine arts subject area.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  • Other
  • Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Keep informed of, and comply with, all state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

    16. Clerical staff, Assistant Director of Fine Arts, Fine Arts teachers and directors.
