Description: Director of Technology

Job Summary: The Director of Technology is responsible for providing leadership and technology strategy aligned with district goals, and technical expertise in the design, development, support, and management of the district's technology systems and operations.
The job functions include overseeing district local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) operations, managing hardware and software maintenance, supervising technology staff and contractors, budget management, implementation of technology and technology tools district-wide, maintaining inventory, management of district learning management systems, and assistance for staff on technology and technology tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that all district Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) remain operational including voice communication systems, wireless network, Internet access, content filtering, anti-virus protection, and email system.
  • Manage and provide hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources.
  • Recommend for hire and supervise technology personnel and contractors to design, develop, implement, operate and administer computer and telecommunications software, networks, and technology systems.
  • Monitor and manage district technology operating and capital budgets.
  • Recommend policies, procedures, and standards regarding technology use.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the district's technology plan.
  • Coordinate the implementation of technologies across the district with other departments.
  • Assist and train staff on technical tools available for their use.
  • Initiate innovative applications of information technology across the district through consultation and collaboration.
  • Serve as district security officer for all technology systems and specify system formats for employee access.
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware and software and develop a procedure that assures an ongoing review to update existing technology.
  • Manage district learning management systems, collaborative workspaces/applications for students and sstaff, student information systems, student data management system, and business/administrative systems.
  • Administer and manage the district's Google Workspace domain for students and staff, including devices (Chromebooks).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to administer policies and procedures of the district
  • Proven skills and strong knowledge of multiple platform computer hardware, software systems, programs, networks, and security systems
Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in technology and/or education-related field

Experience: Preferred: Three years' relevant work experience, successful management and supervisory experience, 3-5 years' experience with network management

Salary: The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 DOQ
