General Summary

Responsible for operational oversight and supervision of Pediatric Practice Solutions (PPS) primary care and other practices as assigned, coding education for clinical and billing staff, and revenue cycle management activity across all PPS practices.

Essential Job Functions

Administrative supervision and operational oversight for specified practices. Duties include routine meetings with physicians and managers, assisting with personnel interviews, progressive discipline, preparing physician productivity reports, analysis of financial trends (revenues, expenses, etc.) and other duties as requested.

Manage and coordinate all revenue cycle management initiatives for PPS practices. Oversight includes patient registration, insurance verification, coding for supporting documentation, billing, and collection to effectively manage account receivables. Serve as the PB (professional billing) main contact for Epic I.T. and outside vendors involved in revenue cycle processes.

Develop and deliver specialized education and training to providers and staff through group and/or one-on-one sessions regarding coding conventions and documentation to support CPT, ICD and HCPCS codes.

Ensure coding updates are conveyed to physician practices in a timely manner and facilitate performance improvement activities at the PPS division level.

Attend conferences, seminars and serve on committees as requested.

Coordinate delivery of corporate services from the COA to individual practices, and other duties as assigned or requested.

Experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of practice operations and management
  • Understanding of management principles to recognize and evaluate the materiality and significance of deviations from good business practices
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication as well as facilitation and presentation skills
  • Proven experience in physician professional billing (CMS 1500)
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and process improvement activities
  • General management and financial/ data analysis skills and knowledge
  • Experience in conducting educational sessions
  • Proficient in spreadsheet analysis and knowledgeable in a variety of software applications, i.e., various practice management systems and electronic health records, Microsoft Office applications, and other software utilized by PPS practices as appropriate
  • Knowledge of basic insurance policies, procedures, and reimbursement practices
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle and travel to all PPS facilities. Must provide proof of current Alabama Drivers License and automobile insurance with minimum coverage as required by COA policy
  • Knowledge of Children's of Alabama and its various departments is a plus
  • Notary Public required but may be obtained post hire

Education, Licensures, Certifications and/or Registries
  • Bachelors degree, plus five (5) years of experience in physician practice management required. Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Masters preferred, MSHA/MBA or comparable degree
  • Certified Professional Coder certification preferred
