Title: Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) Commissioning Engineer
Position Type: Contract
Location: Tampa, Florida
Reports to: Project Manager
Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
PIC has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) Commissioning Engineer to support the construction of a new 574MW CCGT facility near Tampa, FL. The HRSG Commissioning Engineer will report to the Project Manager, and will oversee the commissioning process of Heat Recovery Steam Generators at our client site. The HRSG Commissioning Engineer will work directly with the team to make sure will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in power generation systems, and possess expertise in startup, testing, and troubleshooting and commissioning of HRSG units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate the commissioning of HRSG units from startup through performance testing.
Develop commissioning procedures and test protocols for HRSG systems.
Conduct inspections and functional testing of equipment to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to HRSG systems during commissioning.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams post-commissioning.
Document commissioning activities, including test results, observations, and recommendations.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements throughout the commissioning process.
Prior working and/or commissioning experience with GE 7F.04 gas turbines.
Train client personnel in the operation and maintenance of HRSG systems as requested.
Job Requirements:
Proven experience in commissioning HRSG units or similar power generation systems.
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to HRSG design and operation (e.g., ASME, API, NEC).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, not required
10+ years experience in an HRSG Engineering role
5+ years of Commissioning experience
10+ years experience in the power generation industry.
