This position diagnoses and treats acute and episodic illness independently or as part of a healthcare team, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention to our valuable employees. In addition, the Nurse Practitioner would perform requested peer clinical reviews, as well as concurrent and retrospective clinical chart reviews.

Job Summary:
This position diagnoses and treats acute and episodic illness independently or as part of a healthcare team, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention to our valuable employees. In addition, the Nurse Practitioner would perform requested peer clinical reviews, as well as concurrent and retrospective clinical chart reviews.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes and interprets a patient's history, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate clinical assessment and treatment plan.
- Performs routine medical examinations on employees under established guidelines.
- Provides medical treatment and services, consistent with the provision of basic health care services, in conjunction with a physician.
- Develops treatment plans are based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and clinical practice guidelines and in collaboration of patient's personal physician.
- Educates patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances and recommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.
- Prescribes medication dosages, routes, and frequencies based on patients' diagnosis permitted under State and DEA licensure.
- Counsels patients on prescribed drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other drugs or substances.
- Schedules follow-up visits with clinic or private physician to monitor patients or evaluate health or illness care.
- Documents all health care services provided and include comprehensive records of health care plans and prognosis in the patient's medical record.
- Consults with or refers patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed the scope of practice or expertise.
- Conducts prior authorization and peer to peer review for Facility Care, Rehabilitation and Consultations, when requested.
- Performs concurrent reviews for Level of Care (LOC), Length of Stay (LOS) management.
- Determines if professionally recognized standards for quality care are met.
- Assists with denial management process.
- Conducts clinical reviews to meet regulatory requirement and quality patient care
- Reads current literature, talk with colleagues, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing.
- Maintains current knowledge of state legal regulations for nurse practitioner practice and licensure requirements.
- Maintains departmental policies and procedures in areas such as safety and infection control.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in the state of Florida as well as a current Florida Pharmacy license. Must maintain current copy of applicable licenses at the facility at all times.
- Two (2) years of direct Nurse Practitioner work experience preferred.
- Understanding of managed care guidelines and impact on services.
- Pre-authorization or Concurrent Review experience, preferred.
- Ability to perform complete physical appraisals of patients.
- Ability to identify and evaluate illnesses.
- Ability to initiate diagnostic laboratory tests and evaluate the results.
- Ability to work with patients having a variety of physical problems.
- Ability to compile and evaluate medical histories and other clinical and laboratory data.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
- Ability to analyze medical documentation and apply criteria to determine medical necessity, acuity of care, severity of illness and intensity of service.
