Description:
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine in conjunction with IU Health Physicians, are expanding its team as it transitions to a subspecialized service. The department is seeking to jointly recruit surgical pathologists with subspecialist expertise in Genitourinary and/or Gynecologic pathology, to join its faculty. The Pathologists will be based at the IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory (IUHPL) located in downtown Indianapolis. The Pathology team serves 10 hospitals within the IU Health Network and Eskenazi Health. Anatomic pathology is currently comprised of 55 pathologists, with this expansion plan adding additional subspecialized pathologists. The academic rank of the appointment will be determined by qualifications and level of experience.

The IU Health Pathology Laboratory resides in a 150,000-square-foot dedicated central laboratory building in downtown Indianapolis with first-class facilities. The lab processes over 100,000 cases per year, and houses an electron microscopy laboratory, eight full-time certified pathologists' assistants, twenty residents and eleven different fellowships. IU Health pathologists are engaged in promoting innovation and excellence in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, with strong support for research in an environment that provides the ability to collaborate with a diverse cadre of subspecialized pathologists.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional diagnostic services within anatomic pathology
- Provide on-call coverage and conference support with department faculty members
- Actively participate in educational activities with medical students, residents, and fellows
- The department is in a growth phase, backed by institutional financial support
- IUHPL is located in a 150,000 square foot dedicated central laboratory building

- Processed over 115,000 cases through central histology laboratory in 2022

- Must be board certified in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology
- Must be qualified for licensure in the state of IN
- MD, DO or equivalent education
- Completed fellowship in Gynecologic or Genitourinary Pathology
- Ideal candidate has three to five years of post-fellowship experience
