Job Title: Manager, Stress Engineering, Fire Properties & Test Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $122,000 to $153,000
Summary
The Engineering Manager manages a variety of Stress engineering, Fire Properties & Test Services assignments. Manages the resources assigned to his/her project team and manages/oversees the technical work scope, budget and cost control, planning, and schedule of the program. Prepares integration plan and manages program activities such as design, analysis, technical documentation, and certification support. Will initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions and application of organizational policies. Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate group. This job has significant responsibility for the supply chain function and must organize and coordinate work with representatives from within and outside the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:
* Responsible for designing or redesigning products to introduce new product lines or satisfy current sales commitments utilizing available components, quality materials and economical production methods to meet established quality objectives.
* Provides functional and technical guidance to all aspects of stress engineering.
* Interfaces between JAMCO and suppliers/customers.
* Maintains program schedule by monitoring program progress; coordinates activities; and resolves technical problems that would critically affect cost, schedule, and performance.
* Translates contract requirements into work requirements, processes, and tasks. Details the program work scope establishing program hours/schedule.
* Executes stress design per program work scope.
* Reviews work in progress to ensure that specifications, design, certification support, and performance schedules are maintained.
* Manages research and development resources to meet contractual and internal requirements, control program schedule and budget.
* Ensures application of best practices and identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools. Supports the DBT team.
* Ultimate responsibility for drawing accuracy, (material call out, finish, views, dimensions, notes, drawing format and all other parameters defined on UD-GN-A003.
* Evaluates performance of employees assigned to program team.
* Evaluates engineering/certification progress of the program.
* Analyzes and resolves technical problems or assists workers in solving technical problems.
* Initiates or suggests plan to improve engineer's skill and performance.
* Responsible for financial reporting as it relates to the function.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages 4-6 subordinate leads who supervise employees in the Stress Engineering & Fire Properties group. Manages supervisor of test services, who supervises test services employees and activities. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. May also directly supervise non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Position requires the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and typically a minimum of 10 years experience in an engineering classification. Position requires previous experience in a "supervisory" level role. Moderate travel within the U.S. and abroad may be required to support JAMCO America programs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Language Skills
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
