Overview

A Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) provides leadership and management of electronic health record and information development activities to support the safe and efficient design, implementation and use of informatics solutions to deliver improvements in the quality and outcomes of care for the healthcare system. This includes: providing expert clinical informatics advice and guidance; working collaboratively with others to ensure patient and clinical involvement in the evaluation, selection, planning, development, delivery and evaluation of systems and services, as well as, short and long-term strategic plans to support system-wide business plans, mission, and vision; and championing the use of informatics as an enabler of change and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Education:

1) Doctor of Medicine degree.

Experience:

1) Previous leadership experience with EPIC implementation and management.
2) Seven years' experience in clinical practice.
3) Three years of medical informatics experience in related roles.

2) Functions effectively as a liaison among staff, physicians, hospital administration, and ancillary departments
3) Uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude constantly
4) Consistently demonstrates maturity for accountability or job performance
5) Demonstrate excellent skills in all forms of communication, and work well with others in the spirit of teamwork and cooperation
6) Demonstrate effective verbal and written skills including the ability to deliver effective presentations to myriad audiences
7) Possesses fundamental knowledge of tools and methods for teaching best practices and performance improvement
8) Leader, visionary, consensus builder, innovative, effective, and ethical
9) Conducts business in a professional and cordial manner that upholds the integrity and reputation of Mount Nittany Health

License/Certification/Registration:

1) Licensed Physician in the state of Pennsylvania
2) Board certification preferred
3) Board certified/eligible in an ABMS-recognized specialty in clinical informatics preferred
4) A Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Informatics, or Business Administration preferred

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives minimal supervision from the CEO.
