Qualifications/Skills:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position
- Campus/district leadership experience preferred.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification or eligibility preferred.
- Experience in applying ABA principles in educational settings.
- Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and behavior management techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with diverse populations
- Strong interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Ability to collaborate cohesively with teachers, administrators, and the interdisciplinary team
- Ability to use technology to increase student achievement and teacher efficacy through the use of platforms such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience preferred
- Elementary and Secondary teaching experience preferred
- Behavioral coaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Maintain current MANDT Certification or any other district approved crisis and de-escalation training.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Teacher Supports:
- Assess and structure classroom systems and activities that promote positive student-teacher interactions
- Identify and address behavioral issues that impact student learning and school climate.
- Develop and implement student support plans in collaboration with teachers and administrators.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to identify and address student needs.
- Participate in student support committee meetings and contribute to the development of student support plans.
- Collect and analyze data on student performance, attendance, and behavior to inform support strategies
- Travels to multiple school sites as required for the purpose of performing district-wide services
- Deliver direct support to students through individual and group sessions focused on social skills, coping strategies, and emotional regulation.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans for students requiring additional assistance.
- Foster positive relationships with students to build trust and encourage engagement in their education.
- Assist students in setting behavioral goals and developing strategies to achieve them.
- Support students in developing healthy decision-making habits, coping skills, and resiliency techniques.
- Monitor student progress and provide ongoing feedback and encouragement.
- Provide behavior support for students with mental health concerns who may require additional support
- Implement evidence-based mental health interventions to support students' emotional and behavioral well-being
- Collaborate with school counselors and psychologists to address the behavioral health needs of students.
- Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution skills through restorative interactions.
- Work with parents and guardians to support student learning and well-being.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and ways they can contribute to their child's success.
- Engage with in-district partners to access resources to provide additional support and opportunities for students.
- Collaborate with administrators, and support staff to identify and address student needs.
- Serve as a liaison between students, families, and school staff to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
- Prepare reports on the effectiveness of interventions and programs for school leadership teams.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues and campus staff members that support the vision and mission of the System of Care Team in SBISD.
- Supports multiple campuses district-wide
- Maintains data-based documentation for continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
- Use of assessment tools such as: frequency charting, duration charting, time sampling, and interval observations
- Pursue in-service or professional growth opportunities offering potential for expanding knowledge in positive behavioral intervention and support, and teacher classroom ecosystem empowerment coaching
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills; remain current and comply with state, federal, school and district regulations and policies
- Attend and participate in meetings relevant to this position.
