Summary Description
nbkc bank is looking for a Director of Finance, SVP to join our Finance and Accounting team.

As the Director of Finance, you will demonstrate exceptional financial skills, deep industry knowledge, and a visionary mindset to drive our financial growth and stability. You'll work closely with senior management, lead key financial projects, and help shape nbkc bank's financial future. You will report to the Chief Financial Officer and partner and collaborate with the Controller and the CFO on initiatives to proactively develop financial best practices to meet the needs of management and the Company.

This is an amazing opportunity for a forward-thinker to develop and execute strategic financial plans, optimize performance, and mentor a finance team, all while preparing to move into a senior leadership role.

This position will work [redacted] (a combination of both in the office and at home) based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office.

What you'll do

Leadership and Team Management
  • Strong team and individual leadership that builds a successful, efficient team and nurtures development and growth.
  • Supervises financial analysis projects, extracting data from various systems, evaluating business performance, and assisting departmental managers in the budget/forecasting process to answer related budget versus actual and/or year-over-year variances questions.
  • Conducts financial review meetings with the division management teams.

Reporting and Financial Oversight
  • Responsible for any required BOLI reporting for tax purposes.
  • Responsible for MSR reporting, including required backtesting and stress testing.
  • Proactively develops and enhances concise, effective, and timely financial reporting and analysis to support decision-makers in understanding key metrics and trends in the business.
  • Performs final review of financial reports before submission to the CFO and other department managers.
  • Prepares ANC holding company journal entries, financial statements, and quarterly reporting.
  • Oversees the periodic filings of the 945 backup withholdings.
  • Manages market risk reporting, including mortgage regression.
  • Manages the required filings for various state licenses, including any annual renewals of the NMLS.
  • Prepares quarterly NMLS call report filings.
  • Responsible for overseeing fintech operations for accounting, including billing, contracting, management, and board reporting.
  • Oversees property tax reports, quarterly income tax filings, and other tax-related situations.
  • Responsible for the capital stress test and annual reporting of results for the annual Board strategy.

Regulatory Compliance and Process Improvement
  • Engages with regulators on various safety and soundness areas being examined, including overseeing the preparation of required schedules.
  • Reviews and oversees financial policies, including reconciliation, allowance for credit losses, and recourse liability.
  • Participates in the management of the bank's liquidity position.
  • Manages platforms used to support liquidity, including one-way buy networks and CD networks.
  • Evaluates and understands processes that affect accounting or business policies on departments and makes recommendations for system and overall improvements to implement changes.
  • Reviews fixed asset details, overseeing the disposal of assets to ensure accuracy for income tax and property tax reporting, including managing any property tax contingency firms.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Follows all applicable laws and regulations.


What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Public Accounting experience and CPA designation preferred.
  • 10 years of accounting experience with progressive levels of responsibility
  • 3 years of financial services industry experience
  • 5 years of supervisory experience with proven success in leading teams and fostering collaborative working relationships
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office products
