This position assists the Executive Director of Student Support Services with directing student services including: special education programs, nursing, social work, counseling, 504's and other related services. The Assistant Director provides information and serves as a resource to others; supervises assigned staff; coordinates assigned program components and implements and maintains services within established guidelines and standards. uses leadership, supervisory, and communication skills to ensure that appropriate services are provided for each special education student.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Thorough knowledge of teaching and learning and the subject field of special education. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and current trends of school administration as applied to special education programs. Thorough knowledge of federal laws pertaining to students with disabilities, school laws of New Hampshire Department of Education, and the policies of the Milford School District. Excellent organizational, supervisory, written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters Degree in related field. At least three years experience in a special education position in a public school setting.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Certified by the New Hampshire State Department of Education as an Educational Administrator and Special Education Teacher is required.
