Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As Strategic Sourcing Analyst you will manage supplier relationships for our inventory products.

This role reports to the Manager, Supplier Management. You will be empowered to build and manage relationships with vendor direct suppliers. You will work closely with Category Management, Supply Chain, Sales and Global Sourcing teams to drive overall growth for the Sourced Products team. In addition to the responsibilities already mentioned, you will:

  • Source commodities or groups of commodities, tools, and/or parts.
  • Develop a global sourcing strategy for commodities, tools and/or parts defining project scopes and identify savings opportunities.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and relationships with vendors.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead design and implementation of policies and metrics to ensure that rigid savings goals are realized using subject matter expertise.
  • Advise and work with buyers, engineers, sales team and category management to identify new product needs.
  • Identify new sources in order to meet business requirements.
  • Serve as primary interface between company components and suppliers on strategic/critical quality, and procurement matters.
  • Develop and implement long- and short-range sourcing strategies for very complex and high-risk items.


This analyst secures and analyzes quotations and negotiates prices and terms with U.S. and international suppliers, subject to management approval, for the purchase of fixed assets, parts, tooling, materials and/or services. The typical annual dollar buy is $75 to $150 million.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3-5 years related experience.
  • Has broad expertise including purchasing for lean manufacturing, Kanban and supplier development.
  • Strong negotiation abilities and analytical skills.
  • Shows exceptional verbal and written communication skills including with executives or in international contexts.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control.
  • Must have knowledge of economic principles and financial markets.
  • Competent in computerized procurement systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. May require MS Access experience.
