Description:
Community and Family Resources is seeking a full time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to serve clients in our Des Moines and Iowa City locations. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the delivery of high-quality, professional, psychiatric care to agency patients through utilization of guidelines accepted by the medical director, nurse practitioner, and administrative staff. This position will also have an active educational role, providing both patients and staff education on an ongoing basis. The nurse practitioner works with staff to provide outpatient psychiatric care including identification, diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and crisis intervention services within the scope of practice of a licensed nurse practitioner as defined by the Iowa Board of Nursing.
This person can provide in person services in our Des Moines or Iowa City location 2-3 days per week, and provide telehealth services to clients in the other location 2-3 days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides outpatient psychiatric care for patients of the agency in conjunction with the agency's missions.
- Provides patient with initial intakes for diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Consults with the medical director/psychiatrist or on-call psychiatrist as needed.
- Acts as a patient advocate, monitoring progress and appropriateness of services provided.
- Prescribes medication to patients and monitors for efficacy and side effects.
- Assists community mental health nurses to complete related work tasks such as telephone consultation and triage, refilling prescriptions, contacting families, meeting with drug representatives, following up on lab results and assisting patients to obtain medications from patient assistance medication program.
Schedule:
- Type: Full-time
- Hours: 9a-5:30p, Monday-Friday
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Currently registered for licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
- Certified through the American Nurses Association or appropriate specialty group.
- Preferred to be certified to work with any age group.
