Primary Function:
Assists in the design, documentation, implementation, security, maintenance, and administration of the school division's state-of-the-art, wired and wireless high-speed computer network, as well as other systems including the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone system, digital intercom systems, content filters, load balancers and firewalls. Assists with new projects, performs system engineering, designs, implements, documents, manages, administers and maintains assigned systems including Microsoft Windows and other operating systems, VMware ESX systems, Citrix XenServer systems, and Storage Attached Network systems; network file sharing and print services, server hardware and software support, server patch management; managing Active Directory systems, ADFS integration, Office 365 integration, Microsoft Exchange and email archive software, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SharePoint services, CA/PKI services, system backups; monitoring and inventory of assigned systems all while following Data and Information Security best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical field; or two-year technical degree plus relevant experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide the acceptable knowledge, abilities and skills, as evidenced in the following performance responsibilities:

- Experience in network and infrastructure design, implementation, and operations management.
- Experience in designing and constructing robust enterprise-level solutions.
- Experience in supporting enterprise wide network services and infrastructure.

- Provide assistance with and in some cases lead phases of network engineering including definition, design, implementation, and testing.
- Provide input to Information Technology management on network and infrastructure technology development and best practices.
- Provide input regarding the establishment of network security policies.
- Ensure all installations are in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
- Coordinates across technical teams to encourage application of standards and adherence to standards based on methodologies.
- Provide 3rd level technical support to the Information Technology team and works with division vendors.
- Assists with developing professional detailed system documentation to include operating instruction and guidelines, system reviews, recommendations, and technical diagrams.
- Assists with coordinating, administering and supporting activities related to infrastructure planning, data recovery and development, platform tools and related projects.
- Tests and evaluates new software and hardware and assures all installations are in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
- Installs networked servers, networks and associated networked peripheral equipment ensuring proper set-up.
- Installs operating system and application software and associated upgrades.
- Provides network administration and network engineering services for specific sites as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
