Key Requirements
- Must be a current, permanent FBI employee
- Provides advice to managers and operational personnel regarding the Bureau's records and information management program which includes the creation, dissemination, research, storage, and disposition of records.
- Plans, researches, and analyzes records and information management functions to include: coordinating the proper disposition of records; collaborating with records liaisons and custodians; conducting quality control reviews; organizing records and information based on the Bureau's lines of business; developing plans for filing structures; and providing recommendations to improve workflow.
- Independently organizes and conducts studies involving a wide variety of records and information management functions. Plans the course of action, sets objectives, and determines the effectiveness of the studies.
- Analyzes records and information management business processes; creates, conducts, and or coordinates records management training; and ensures compliance with the overall mission and business needs.
- Prepares project plans to be utilized which include planning, analysis, performance measurements, and cost analysis. Defines the overall scope of analysis and evaluation to be conducted; develops criteria; ensures measures are taken which ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and validity; ensures objectives are met; and takes appropriate action.
- Prepares, presents, and defends recommendations and findings to management in written reports, memoranda, executive summaries, and analytical narratives. These may assist management in their decisions regarding the continuation, re-direction, or termination of projects.
- Participates in special and ad-hoc projects, working groups, and/or task forces.

- Comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of records and information management processes.

- Knowledge of the complete records and information management process that supports the entire lifecycle of records in order to establish best practices and provide guidance on lifecycle requirements.
- Analytical ability to conduct comprehensive records and information management program studies and to develop logical, clear, and well-documented recommendations and conclusions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to tactfully and persuasively advise and guide management relative to a variety of issues; make presentations; and prepare complete, clear, and concise formal and informal reports, correspondence, and briefings.

- Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from LEGAT assignment. Employees returning from LEGAT assignments must advise the Staffing and Administrative Unit / International Operations Division of their application for this position.
- Candidates receiving a transfer of physical location, whether at the expense of the FBI or not, will be required to complete a one year commitment to the assignment, prior to moving to a new position at the FBI. The 12-month waiting period begins the day an employee reports for duty at the new location.
- Employees selected for promotions at the GS-12 level or higher, as well as employees selected for positions where a transfer of location is required, will be processed through the name check program prior to being notified of their selection.
