Philip's Academy Charter School of Paterson (Philip's), seeks an advanced professional as its Senior Managing Director of Curriculum & Instruction (MDCI). The MDCI is a member of the CEO's Leadership Team. Under direction of the Charter Executive Officer (CEO), the primary purpose of a Managing Director of Curriculum and Instruction job is to organize and direct instructional operations of the schools and organization, as well as provide strategic direction and guidance to the CEO, Instructional leadership teams, and principals and ensure Philip's achieves its annual goals and its mission.

Reports Directly To: Chief Executive Officer

Performance and Responsibilities:
Directs Philip's instructional-related work and resources
Assumes responsibility for all student achievement and establishes an expectation of rigor and academic excellence for all school staff and faculty.
Assume responsibility for all program that support student development and learning, including, academic, arts, athletics, and extracurricular programming
Prepare the annual instructional plans, and monitor progress against these plans to ensure that Philip's objectives are achieved in the most cost-effective and efficient way.
Offer guidance and strategic advice to the members of the leadership team, CEO, and board of directors, to keep them updated on program progress, industry developments and ensure the right policies that comply with relevant regulations are created to maintain compliance, sound governance, and student achievement
Ensure that effective formal and informal partnerships to important clients, stakeholders, key decision-makers, local authorities and relevant government agencies and departments are established and maintained to support instruction and programs.
Develop and maintain research and development (R&D) programs that help the Philip's with remaining on top of its competitors, offering innovative instructional products or services and employing the most effective instructional approaches and methods.
Prepare, delegate for and monitor the implementation of the Philip's yearly instructional budget to ensure goals are met, resources and materials are provided, and cost and minimized
Develop and maintain effective public relations and marketing strategies to promote Philips's image to external audiences
Represent the company in negotiations with suppliers, customers, government departments/agencies and other important contacts to create contract terms that would be most effective and advantageous for the organization.
Develop and uphold a system for total instructional quality management that ensures the best possible instructional products or services are provided to teachers, staff, and students
Develop, direct and promote the enforcement of equal opportunity policies in all instructional work aspects within the organization, ensuring an equity-driven approach to teaching and learning.
Direct the execution of procedures and policies to ensure Philip's is compliant with all instructional regulations and other relevant legislations at the local, state, and federal levels

Governance Support
Upholds established policies and practices and maintains the fidelity of the school's Educational Model and key design elements
Coordinate and facilitate program-related Board committee meetings
Prepare presentations for program accountability-related Board committee and monthly board meeting to provided program updates in manner that achieves sounds governance oversight of the school programs, academic program, and instructional practice, and students outcomes

Leadership, Professional Development, Management:
Supervise and guide a team of high-functioning instructional and program leaders
Aligns all staff and stakeholder to the mission, vision, and model of Philip's, toward high achievement for all students.
Works collaboratively with CEO in stewardship of the charter, and promotes understanding and good working relationships between the staff
Ensures the recruitment and retention of highly-qualified candidates to ensure that the organization achieves its academic and instructional goals
Establish and maintaining an environment of high-standards of professional development, differentiated to adults learning that drive students achievement
Establishes and leads an effective team in a manner that engages and empowers others to take action and responsibility to achieve results.

Professional Expectations
Assumes responsibility for his/her continuing professional growth and development by attendance at professional meetings, memberships in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses and by reading professional journals and other publications.
Attends Philip's staff meetings, staff development activities, and other special activities and functions.
Performs other duties, which may be assigned by CEO or required by law, code, regulation, and board policy.
Qualifications:
New Jersey Principal certificate or eligibility.
Training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree, preferably in educational leadership.
Demonstrated success in raising student achievement with underserved populations.
Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of curriculum development, differentiation, instructional improvement, and leading adults.
At least five years of school administration experience in a PK-12 public school setting
Strong commitment to youth and ability to work effectively with parents.
Successful in creating collaborative relationships or coalitions.
Commitment to PACS philosophy and unwavering belief that all students can succeed.
Able to work well with limited oversight and direction.
Ability to develop an organization-wide strategy for instructional excellence.
Strong management skills, with the emotional intelligence to work effectively with diverse leaders and leadership teams, developing and enhancing their capabilities
Skilled at pushing staff perspectives and approaches to always focus first on students' needs.
Effective problem-solving skills, with an ability to creatively solve seemingly intractable problems while inspiring staff to do the same
Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of curriculum development, instructional leaders, and educational programs
Robust analytical skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to drive results
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including use of productivity software.
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve-month employee.

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the board's policy on evaluation.
