What you will be working on:

As the Database Administrator, you will:

• Design, plan, implement, test, and administer PostgreSQL databases, including security, access, and documentation.
• Manage and administer complex information technology systems to ensure system design and operation meets business needs.
• Perform daily administrative tasks, including backup/recovery, performance optimization, space management, DB health, monitoring event logs, and troubleshooting to maintain multiple databases in support of client needs.
• Proactively monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Work cross-functionally with engineers, developers, and users to optimize queries, fix performance bottlenecks, improve existing schemas, and design new ones.
• Create and maintain change control and testing processes.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards; plan for future growth of data assets.
• Write automation scripts to provision and manage PostgreSQL on Kubernetes.
• Create and maintain SQL scripts for data extraction, migration, and maintenance.
• Review development and deployment processes related to databases and identify areas of improvement.
• Create and maintain documentation, troubleshooting playbooks, and test failover and recovery plans.

What you will bring to us (Must):

• 3-6 years of PostgreSQL DBA experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or training, or work/military experience.
• Experience in SQL development and performance tuning.
• Expertise with PostgreSQL system metrics and optimization strategies.
• Familiarity with system-level metrics and practical use of common Linux utilities.
• Proficiency in one of the following scripting languages: Python, Perl, Bash.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers, development, and operations teams.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required to start and eligibility to obtain CI Poly required.

Would be nice if you bring the following (Highly Desired):

• Experience with data analysis/data science.
• Certified in Oracle DB, MySQL, and/or SQL.
• Proficient in Linux, including installation and daily use as a development environment.
• Experience with Git and version control.
