Senior Infrastructure Engineer

IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are pushing past the limits of classical physics and current supercomputing technology to unlock a new era of computing. Building and operating quantum computers requires lots of classical computers from high-performance computing clusters to VMs and containerized services, we rely on on-prem and cloud-based computers every day. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, youll help build and maintain this critical infrastructure. In your first 90 days, youll help implement automation and capabilities to help us comply with NIST 800-171.

Responsibilities:

• Help build out and maintain our on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure
• Help develop and implement our digital security capabilities for both our cloud infrastructure and on-prem facilities
• Provision infrastructure in the cloud and on-prem
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Monitor systems to analyze and improve performance, security, and reliability
• Document configurations and processes
• Collaborate closely with software and hardware engineers to continuously improve how we do things

Youd be a good fit with:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent practical experience -- untraditional backgrounds are welcome and encouraged!
• 5+ years experience in technical infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration
• 2+ years experience in Kubernetes
• Expert-level knowledge with a programming language of your choice
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Youd be a great fit with:

• 5+ years experience with Kubernetes
• 2+ years experience with Terraform
• 2+ years experience with VMware-based virtualization
• Prior experience running bare-metal Kubernetes clusters
• Prior experience provisioning physical servers and network equipment
• Prior experience scaling and securing distributed applications

Location:

• This position is located in our newest facility in Bothell, WA.

The salary range for this position is $153,003 - $200,321.

Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland which is only a 15-minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in the Seattle, Washington area. Depending on the position, you may be required to be located near our offices in College Park, Seattle, or Toronto.
