POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Responsible for working with staff across the enterprise (both UWMC Montlake and Northwest campuses, Harborview Medical Center, and UW Primary Care) to implement a multi-year vision for effective and efficient clinic operations
Management of the senior computer specialist team to provide oversight on the business systems training, first-line user support, new functionality implementation, compliance auditing, and process consultation/analysis for ambulatory care teams across the enterprise addition to other business operations support and training
Manage the plan, content, and implementation for training for new staff on operational and technical workflows, remedial training for existing staff, version upgrade training and preparedness, and training on new functionality in Epic and other software used by Ambulatory Care staff
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The UW Medicine Ambulatory Business Operations team serves as a central resource team supporting the goals and needs of the ambulatory division across the system including Harborview, UW Medical Center Montlake and Northwest, and UWM Primary Care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver effective training on Epic and other business software to both new and existing UWMC staff through various formats including in-person in conference or computer classrooms, online, or at the elbow in a clinic
Lead and manage a team of senior computer specialists, ensuring effective performance and development
Set priorities and oversee the completion of projects and tasks to ensure alignment with organizational goals
Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
Lead and represent the team in various meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders
Implement industry best practices in IT operations, ensuring adherence to standards for efficiency, security, and reliability
Serve as a liaison with the IT department, facilitating communication and collaboration on tickets, upgrades, and strategic planning
Prepare stakeholders for upcoming changes in technology and processes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions
Actively participate in Epic groups and forums, staying informed of the latest developments, sharing insights, and advocating for the needs and priorities for UW Medicine with Epic
Offer regular feedback to clinic management to address usage issues and contribute to problem-solving efforts
Ensure comprehensive application support for EpicCare utilized in ambulatory clinics, assisting users in troubleshooting and optimizing system usage
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business, education, healthcare, or a related field AND at least nine years of experience working in an acute or ambulatory care setting
Minimum two years of experience in either technical computer training or end-user application development or support
Strong understanding and experience in IT/computer/application support and analysis
Knowledge of Epic, payer plans, benefits verification processes, financial clearance process, denials auditing, and denials prevention process improvement
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements
