Biologist - San Francisco Bay & California Coast - Vallejo, California
Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $102,000.00 Annually
Ducks Unlimited, Inc. (DU) in Vallejo, California on Mare Island has an opening for a full-time biologist. The biologist will implement DU's mission by conserving, restoring, and managing wetlands and associated habitats. DU is the continent's leader in waterfowl and wetlands conservation, has conserved more than 16 million acres across the continent. As part of the team, the incumbent will help coordinate, plan, and oversee conservation projects, ensuring environmental compliance, managing sub-consultants, conducting outreach, site monitoring, and integrating engineering and environmental considerations. The primary focus of this position will be San Francisco Bay and the California Coast. Duties will include project identification, relationship building, coordination and collaboration with team and partners to plan and implement projects, grant writing, project management, biological technical assistance.
Required Qualifications:
Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in a natural resources field - advanced degree strongly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of wetland ecology and/or waterfowl biology;
At least five years of relevant experience
Willingness and ability to travel, occasionally overnight, multi-day
Manage projects and processes
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience using and proficiency with Microsoft suite, including Excel, Word, and Power Point
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the region's biological resources, environmental issues, and private and public stakeholders
Demonstrate experience with various state and federal regulatory requirements
Proven proposal/grant writing skills and project management capabilities
