We are currently seeking a well-organized, team-oriented Director of Operations (Maintenance & Procurement). The successful candidate will have strong project management skills and will assist in supporting Killam's entire maintenance portfolio. This position will be based in Halifax, but some travel to other regions will be required.

What you will do:
Support Regional Manager, Maintenance in overseeing the maintenance portfolio;
Develop and refine systems and processes that support the efficient day-to-day operation of properties across Killam's portfolio;
Communicate with and support Property Managers to ensure building maintenance and renovation is completed on time and budget;
Establish and monitor consistency in performance, financial, and safety standards and maintenance practices and procedures;
Negotiate and manage service and supply contracts, including bulk purchase, waste, snow removal, landscaping, elevators, restoration, laundry, and more;
Manage cell tower and in-building wiring agreements;
Oversee Fleet Program;
Lead the advancement and ongoing management of maintenance system automation;
Assist in the implementation of energy efficiency and water consumption projects;
Travel to Killam regions across the portfolio, as needed;
Other duties as required.

Who you are:
You have a post-secondary degree in a related discipline (business, engineering) or equivalent experience;
Previous experience in operations, construction, or maintenance, preferably in property and facilities management;
Experience evaluating and negotiating service and supplier contracts;
Clear, professional, and effective verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated team building and leadership skills;
Strong project management and organizational skills;
Excellent computer skills, including intermediate Microsoft Excel capability;
A solid understanding of Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
