Description
As the Director of High School Placement, you will ensure every BTNY middle school student is prepared to gain acceptance into and the financial aid necessary to attend a selective, college preparatory high school. Reporting to the Senior Director of Middle School Programs, the Director, High School Placement leads and supports the organizational roll out of all student-related preparation, application, and commitment activities for the high school application process. This will require working with the SD, Middle School Program to set a clear strategic vision for our high school placement work, which includes building strong relationships with students and their families to serve as a guide through the high school application process; developing a robust plan to support students and their families in building strong high school lists, applications, and financial aid materials; cultivating partnerships with independent, parochial, and specialized high schools throughout the NYC and the East coast; and leveraging internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition from middle school to high school.
Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that students enroll at the high schools that will best set them up for gaining admissions to selective and highly selective colleges and universities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
Program Development and Implementation (40%):
- Overseeing all aspects of the high school application process including setting goals, measures of success, and the operating plan to achieve high school placement goals.
- Identifying, implementing, and codifying innovative strategies to ensure all of our students gain entry to the most competitive college preparatory high schools in the country with the adequate financial aid necessary.
- Developing and evaluating the BTNY high school placement curriculum for students and families.
- Conducting robust analysis of data to make informed decisions on the direction of the program.
- Coordinating and overseeing the facilitation of all high school placement activities and family events.
- Developing relationships with high school admissions and financial aid officers to support students before, during, and after application processes.
- Redefining BTNY's definition of a "college prep" high school to ensure that all students learn about and gain access to high-quality schools.
- Managing all vendors associated with high school placement, including test prep companies, to ensure student are prepared to gain admissions to and succeed at college prep high schools.
Leadership, Staff Management and Internal Partnership (35%):
- Leading, planning, and executing all High School placement work streams, including the curriculum development and execution of financial aid and high school transition workshops; the identification and cultivation of key partners; and the approach to student data collection and analysis.
- Reporting out on KPIs and data metrics to inform our overall progress to goal.
- Managing program budgets, grant requests and disbursements ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource allocation in alignment with organizational goals.
- Training and managing high school placement assistants as they provide individualized counseling to students and families.
- Stewarding team culture, including operating in alignment with our mission, vision, and core values, commitment to DEIB.
- Leveraging Program Team Leads and other admissions-focused colleagues as thought partners to advance your scope of work and ensure alignment and cross-department collaboration.
- Serving on the BTNY Program Leadership Team.
Event Planning and Logistics (25%)
- Leading event-specific working groups charged with the visioning, execution, and evaluation of all High School Placement events, including test prep days, interview days and summer sessions related to high school transitions
- Directly managing all event logistics, including coordinating space, transportation, food, and event materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in educational leadership, program management, student services, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of the high school landscape
- Experience designing and managing programs that enhance academic achievement, career readiness, and personal development.
