Description:

Convergint is looking for a full-time, team-oriented, results-driven, Structured Cabling Estimator to join our amazing culture at our Moncton, NB location. As an Estimator, you will support the Business Development Team by participating in project site walks, bid plan take offs, bid plan estimates, full estimate and proposal, operations estimate review, sales to operations turnovers. The Estimator will be involved in any job over 20k - This allows for many of our processes to be initiated such as the pre -bid review. Any project under 20k will need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

What you'll do with "Our Training and Your Experience."
  • Work directly with sales in the estimating & bid process by: Being involved in the bid no bid decision & effectively managing the requests from sales through scheduling and communication.
  • Support the Business Development Team with the estimate and review process.
  • Participate in the preliminary specifications review and qualify opportunities.
  • Develop technology & security project quotes and assist with proposals for the Canadian CTC's.
  • Work closely with purchasing, engineering, and our technical resources to reduce any margin of error in the estimate.
  • May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Cooperate fully with the Sub-contractor, General contractor or owner to get the project completed.
  • Process changes received from the client including contacting suppliers for pricing, checking supplier quotations to ensure that they are complete and reasonable, and itemizing changes and presenting them to the client with confidence that the pricing is in accordance with the changes.
  • Attend pre-bid meeting to provide technical knowledge and assist with determining the scope of work, define material requirements for the estimate, and identify any project risk.
  • Perform job walkthroughs and on-site technical audits in support of the sales team.
  • Use Quota maker as required to provide estimates
  • Develop knowledge & become a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in Convergint core Security Technologies.
  • Plan a construction project and prepare a construction schedule.
  • Always acts as "our customer's best service provider" thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer's first choice for service.
  • Communicates with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company.
  • Keeps up to date and informed on all company policies.
  • Always presents a professional image of Convergint Technologies in appearance and behavior.

What You'll Need
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to electronic security systems
  • Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision
  • Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), AutoCAD and/or viewing software
  • Shows initiative - regularly engages in proactive behavior and looks for opportunities
  • Extremely adaptable - responds effectively to changes in situation or information; ability to influence others and build consensus using good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills necessary to resolve problems and look for solutions
  • Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word and Power Point skills; solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of IT networking principals

Requirements:
  • CET designation, diploma or certification from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in operations directly related to the execution, design, and risk evaluation of projects and service specific to the Security industry.
  • Experience working in conjunction with sales, contractors and end users
  • Experience with the construction bid/tendering process
  • Experience with formal RFP/RFQ processes
  • Experience with putting estimates together through cost analysis to determine the best solution for Convergint and the Client.
