Operations Manager Specific Skills:
Develop and implement comprehensive transportation plans to meet employee needs
Coordinate daily transportation operations, including route planning and scheduling
Recruit, train, and supervise transportation staff, including drivers and dispatchers
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards
Oversee maintenance and repair of the vehicle fleet, ensuring vehicles are in safe working condition
Develop and manage the transportation budget, monitoring and controlling costs
Address and resolve employee transportation concerns and complaints promptly
Maintain accurate records of transportation activities and prepare regular performance reports
Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Handle customer interface when applicable
Detail and process orientation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Project management experience a plus
Strong emotional intelligence and customer service experience
Transportation industry experience
Strong computer skills / technological aptitude
High level of initiative, strong work ethic
Ability to connect, understand, diffuse and resolve difficult situations
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Coachable and enjoys learning new things
Team Player- gives others the benefit of the doubt
CDL license a plus
Operations Manager Responsibilities:
Management of general yard operations
Responsible for recruitment, management and retention of driver and dispatch teams
Work closely with MRTW and customer management teams to ensure 100% compliance with customer requirements
Participate in customer QBR's
Implement customer and driver retention programs
Work closely with MRTW and customer management teams to ensure 100% compliance with customer SLA requirements
Work attentively to ensure 100% compliance with DOT and NTA requirements
Assist with driver and safety bonus programs
Assist with driver onboarding, scheduling and staffing
Other duties as required
Required Experience:
Previous Management experience 5yrs+ - preferable in the transportation industry
Familiar with DOT regulations
FMSCA regulations and safety practices
Exceptional communication, organization and listening skills
Ability to multitask
Fast learner and self starter
Computer proficient
Strong organizational ability
Ability to remain professional under pressure
