Position Summary:
The Commercial Finance Manager is the point person for all accounting and finance needs at a project level. This position interfaces directly with project management, providing trusted insight into the financial health of the project. The primary focuses of this position include evaluating construction job costs, data reporting/analysis for management, budgeting/forecasting, and revenue recognition.
Responsibilities:
  • Creates, reviews, and updates various project reports and makes appropriate corrections to ensure accurate reporting for management.
  • Manages a small team, providing guidance and feedback as needed.
  • Coordinate with project teams to assess reporting and identify risks to create accurate forecasts.
  • Determines the cost of operations by establishing standard costs and collecting operational data.
  • Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, providing trends and forecasts, explaining processes/techniques, and recommending actions.
  • Improves financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management.
  • Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data.
  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses, studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or an equivalent degree is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting business finance within the construction industry.
  • Experience supporting heavy civil infrastructure-type construction projects.
  • Knowledge of complex ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) to prepare financial reports and forecasts.
  • Knowledge utilizing data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Knowledge utilizing the Microsoft Office 365 software suite to prepare and/or supplement financial reporting, forecasts, and analyses.
  • The ability to collaborate with various business, operations, and construction project teams and personnel to gather data and create reports.
  • The ability to work successfully both independently and on a team to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication (both oral and written), organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
