SUMMARY: The Senior Safety Manager plans, directs and implements George's Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System to ensure compliance, reduce risk and identify and resolve gaps and deficiencies related to, and all EHS related areas for the facilities covered in their region. This position includes detailed, hands-on support of regional and corporate environmental and sustainability initiatives including leadership, technical guidance, and project management. This position will provide technical information, support, and leadership. A combined knowledge of industrial and/or manufacturing processes with strong technical environmental proficiency and excellent interpersonal skills is required to effectively execute the responsibilities of this position
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop and implement Safety Management system.
Establishes policies and procedures to identify and address risks in the organization's services and departments.
Reviews and assesses Safety policies and protocols; makes recommendations and implements modifications and improvements.
Develop and monitor programs to ensure regulatory compliance general industry rules and regulations, as well as all state and local requirements.
Drafts and presents reports and proposals to executive leadership and senior staff.
Provide focused support and guidance to facilities.
Coordinates with local law enforcement and safety staff as required to support and/or conduct investigations.
Designs, develops, and implements safety systems and protocols.
Conducts internal inspections; recommends systems and corrective actions based on findings of inspection.
Drafts, maintains, and updates Safety procedures and documentation.
Maintains current knowledge of applicable government compliance regulations, which may include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Defense (DOD), and state and local regulations.
Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, incident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required
o Bachelor's Degree in Health & Safety, related field, AND 5+ years of relevant experience OR 9+ years of progressively responsible experience in a safety related field.
o Certified Safety Specialist or equivalent certification
o Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
o Proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft applications
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
o Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Preferred
o Experience working in the Poultry Industry
o Bilingual
