HSE Manager (Health/Safety/Environment)

Salary Range: $85,000 - $105,000

Weldco-Beales Manufacturing designs and manufactures specialized heavy equipment attachments for the construction, forestry, mining, scrap recycling, road maintenanceand resource industries throughout Canada, the USA and internationally. This position will report to the Director of HSE.

What you will do:

Corporate Level Responsibilities
  • Work with the Director and other HSE Business Partners to establish corporate HSE policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Track and maintain Health, Safety and Environment Key Performance Indicators (KPI'S) including the publishing of such data for stakeholders.
  • Participate in annual document and risk assessment reviews with the intent to improve upon existing corporate HSE policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Acts as a positive change agent in supporting corporate HSE visions, new initiatives, and goals.


Branch Level Responsibilities
  • Respond expeditiously to requests or inquiries pertaining to health, safety and environment related issues from employees and management.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to the local leadership team to help implement the corporate Health, Safety and Environment Management System(s).
  • Track and advise local leadership on current and proposed changes to applicable federal, provincial/state, or municipal health, safety, and environment legislation to help ensure compliance.
  • Advise local leadership on regulatory requirements for the control of identified hazards.
  • Manage HSE tracking system within branch of responsibility to ensure inputs and outputs are meeting the organizations requirements.
  • Provide local leadership with regular updates, reports and suggestions for improvement on operational HSE issues.
  • Support the orientation, education, and training of employees in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Lead near-miss and incident investigations as per the organization's incident management process.
  • Review hazard and incident reports to identify trends and opportunities that need improvement.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and accounts within branch of responsibility to ensure local reporting requirements are met and claims are managed until closed.
  • Perform or aid in the completion of external or internal health, safety and environment audits including the development of action plans to support improvements.


Your qualifications:
  • A Certificate, Diploma or equivalent Occupational Health and Safety (Bachelor's preferred)
  • OH&S Designation such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional, Certified Health, and Safety Consultant or equivalent.
  • Provincial Class 5 Operators License
  • 5 years of related industrial Occupational Health and Safety experience.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in health, safety, and environment related laws and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of Work Safe BC Policies and Procedures including Workers Compensation and Return to Work programs.
  • BCCSA internal auditor
  • Knowledge and proficiency in ISO 45001 and 14001
