Position Overview:
Calhoun-Burns is a division of Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. specializing in bridge design and inspection. We are currently seeking a full-time Structural Project Engineer to join our structural team. Our team works with State and Local Government on bridge and culvert related projects. We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills to assist our current staff in serving our clients. This position will collaborate with our structural team members across our organization.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Structural design and detailing for bridge, building and/or other structures
- Work with teams participating in planning, design and construction of structural projects, with future opportunities to lead project teams
- Client contact including verbal and written communication
- Ability to complete projects on time and within budget
- Periodic on-site construction observation
- Inspection and load rating of in-service bridges
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required
- 5+ years of experience in structural engineering required
- Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months required
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) projects and procedures preferred
- Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD bridge design code preferred
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred
- Experience with hydraulic design for bridges and roadway design preferred
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD preferred
