Fluor's North American Mining & Metals (M&M) operations has an exciting opportunity for a Mine Area Project Manager to join our Calgary and Saskatchewan based team on an underground mine infrastructure construction project.

The purpose of this position is to oversee and manage the performance of all Mining construction activities for assigned contract packages typically in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, cost estimates and in line with HSE expectations and standards. The role requires an authoritative knowledge and background of assigned work, a holistic grasp of complex situations, the ability to navigate between intuitive and analytical approaches with ease and see the overall picture and alternative solutions to project objectives. With command, this position is responsible for and direct construction management staff and line supervision as necessary in their respective roles to meet or exceed all project objectives. This position requires the ability to manage contractors/subcontractors for the same within the assigned area of responsibility.
The Under Ground Construction Manager will be responsible for the direct management and execution of all Under-ground scopes including but not limited to - Headframe Replacement, Mining SMPEI(Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electric & Instrumentation), and Mine Development/Mine Production (as required). This role will interface with the Above Ground Construction Manager at the DV battery limits. Primary Job Duties/Functions:
Responsibility, for and direct management of all construction contractors
Executes construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards.
Provides active leadership in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety and risk management a natural part of all work performed.
Controls project schedule and cost through the efficient use of all construction resources including workforce, materials, tools, and equipment.
Provides input for the development of project schedules in cooperation with the Area Management, construction engineers and planners.
Ensures that daily and weekly short-range planning is maintained, up to an including 90-day plans.
Manages the Constructability program for UG scope - reviews design scope and approach regarding constructability and submits recommendations for change.
Manages integration between JS2 construction in conjunction with JS2 IPT and Jansen program resourcing
Manages construction execution through collaboration with JS1 peers and JS2 Above Ground Construction Manager
Determines workforce levels to attain schedule milestones and monitors workforce levels and craft mixes with the Contractor to ensure conformance with the construction plan.
Monitors productivity and cost and implements appropriate action to maintain maximum labour productivity and cost-effectiveness.
Controls change/scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work, in conjunction with Area Manager contract ownership;
Implements the site safety and security procedures and project work rules.
Supports the Construction Director/Site Manager in the overall administration of labour relations policies.
Manages the contractual commitments of contractors, including cost, quality, and schedule and coordinates their field activities.
Plans and manages the project's temporary facilities.
Maintains quality of all work in accordance with the standards as specified in the design documents and project quality management plans
Maintains effective construction equipment use and maintenance program for any project owned equipment and asset preservation, in accordance with materials management group
Maintains an effective plan for the supply and control of tools, materials, including aggregate management and free issued materials.
Administers, trains, and motivates all personnel in construction IPT through the Area Construction Manager, superintendent and frontline supervision.
Remains knowledgeable of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner and, while supervising others, has responsibility for their safety and ensures that they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits.

Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-four (24) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements
Typically, direct and responsible for all staff assigned to the project(s) through direct reports typically consisting of managers, Area managers and supervisors interfacing with the various functions (i.e., Safety Manager, Quality Manager, Construction Manager/Superintendents, Site Services Manager, Engineering Manager, Contracts Manager and others as appropriate for the project(s))
Typically serve as lead person to coordinate all activities and communication within the site/project area as well as between those areas and other offices and locations
Coordinate and implement indirect activities, internal and external, required to support a productive project execution; including functional staff support, support craft activities, and any other resource necessary to assure a safe and quality project execution
Generally responsible to assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance with all pertinent requirements
Responsibility typically includes serving as the single point of accountability to senior leadership, the client, and the community
