Job Duties
- Infrastructure Management - Designs, implements, and maintains Dare County's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, and virtualization platforms. Analyzes system capacity and performance trends to anticipate future infrastructure needs and recommends upgrades or expansions as necessary. Maintains accurate and up to date documentation of infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
- Systems Monitoring and Troubleshooting - Monitors system performance, identifies potential issues, and proactively resolves any technical problems to ensure the availability and reliability of critical systems. Establishes and maintains data backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity in case of data loss or system failures.
- Security - Implements and maintains robust security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls to safeguard the County's infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities. Researches and evaluates emerging cyber security threats and vulnerabilities and the best ways to mitigate them. Assesses new security technologies to determine potential value to the County. Provides technical expertise regarding security-related concepts to operational teams within the IT Department and the County. Assists with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training.

Education, Experience and Supplemental Information
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Four (4) years of experience as an Infrastructure Administrator, Systems Administrator, Systems Analyst or a similar role.
