Role description:

Arcadis seeks a Transportation Infrastructure Design Director (Design Build/ Alternative Project Delivery) to play a key leadership role overseeing the design process for a variety of design build transportation projects. You will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of design professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality designs that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Role Accountabilities:
  • Lead the design efforts for transportation projects from concept through completion, ensuring designs are innovative, efficient, and cost-effective.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Provide guidance on technical issues, design standards, and project delivery.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients regarding design aspects of projects. Understand client needs and expectations, and ensure designs align with project goals.
  • Implement QA/QC processes to review designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers to establish project budgets and schedules. Monitor progress and take proactive measures to address any issues that may impact project delivery.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and advancements in transportation design. Apply technical knowledge to solve complex design challenges and optimize project outcomes.
  • Work closely with other departments such as planning, environmental, and construction teams to integrate design efforts and ensure holistic project success.

Required Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in transportation design, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license - Georgia or Florida or New York or California.

Key Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in mentoring and developing staff.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Civil 3D.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Strong understanding of transportation design standards, regulations, and best practices.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $116,000 - $174,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
