We are a federal small, SWaM certified, and Montgomery County local small business offering comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for projects of varying size and complexity. We specialize in highly complex healthcare, research, and laboratory design. Our experience includes a wide range of facilities for a diverse clientele. To date our largest client includes The National Institutes of Health (NIH) where we currently hold an AE MATOC and recently completed a five (5) year Prime AE IDIQ contract. We also currently hold a five (5) year MEP IDIQ and a five (5) year AE IDIQ contract with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), as well as a three (3) year MEP IDIQ with The University of Maryland. In addition to our prime contracts, CFR is the MEP engineering designer on an NCI IDIQ and George Mason University Laboratory Design IDIQ.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Looking for an Electrical Design Engineer with 2+ years' experience in designing power systems. Responsibilities include:
- Design of electrical power distribution systems, including medium and low-voltage power distribution.
- Projects involve the design of service entrance switchgear and switchboards, transformers, emergency generators and paralleling systems, uninterruptible power systems, variable frequency drive applications and harmonics mitigation, electric car charging stations, photo-voltaic system integration, and specialized equipment for laboratories and medical facilities.
- Design of fire alarm systems.
- Perform 3D modeling with Revit and 2D drafting with AutoCAD to create construction documents.
- Visit project sites throughout the design and construction processes to assess existing facilities and ongoing construction.
- Coordinate with other trades for the successful construction of projects.
- Design modern lighting systems for efficient and aesthetically pleasing facilities.
- Perform lighting calculations with software such as Agi32 and Visual.
- Perform short circuit studies, arc flash calculations, and voltage drop calculations with software such as SKM Power Tools.
- Analysis of power system load characteristics taken from field data to provide recommendations for improving power systems reliability and determining existing demand loads.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is a must
- Work from home capabilities are available. CFR does not mandate in-office days/hours for full time employees beyond an initial onboarding period (usually less than 2 months). Note that the nature of our work often requires local site visits, so applicants must be willing to travel by car within the DC/Maryland/Virginia area regularly.
