Description
This role is responsible for obtaining profit contribution by managing staff, establishing and accomplishing business objectives. This position will be responsible for the overall performance of our Trucking division including final mile delivery and Linehaul operation, the warehouse, including operations, customer service, inventory control, process improvements, safety, maintenance, and security. The Terminal Manager will provide support to Executive management in establishing warehouse performance objectives and is accountable for achieving these objectives.
What you'll do:
Directs warehouse management team; develops and maintains a productive work team; creates programs to coach, counsel and discipline staff members; implements effective evaluation system to assist on effective performance management.
Ensures development of systems and procedures for operating and managing physical facilities.
Champion all facility objectives and cross functional improvement projects to reduce cost and improve operational effectiveness.
Increases management's effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
Interfaces directly with company IT resources to ensure the creation of necessary information technology to meet customer objectives and facilitate efficient operations.
Builds company image by collaborating with customers, community organizations, and employees
Maintain appropriate contact with the customer and respond to requests when required.
Assist in the establishment of customer service standards and communicate these standards to all employees.
Assure that customer receive the required level of operations and administrative support.
Accomplishes subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections
Provide insight on an annual operating budget.
Manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters.
Procures equipment and facilities required to assure efficient operation; develops programs for maintaining company standards of safety, sanitation, maintenance, and security.
What you'll have:
At least 10 years of supply chain experience.
Four-year college degree in Business or related field preferred.
Experience in a fast-paced, large volume, high-intensity environment, working multiple channels of business with strong focus on meeting/exceeding measurable metrics
Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to build and motivate a team and ability to explain complex issues, present alternatives, and influence others to reach the optimal solution.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the key metrics that drive our businesses and how to develop those that are not in place.
Excellent negotiating skills and highly developed communication skills
Proven successful project management skills.
Complete understanding of P & L process, financial drivers of the facility, profit margins.
PC skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
General knowledge of Ocean/Air Customs regulations.
General knowledge of AMS
General knowledge in maintaining and manage assets, i.e. Box truck, Tractor and Trailer operation,
General knowledge of DOT requirements and compliance
