Senior Scientist, Peptide Analytical Chemistry

Aktis Oncology is a biotechnology company pioneering the discovery and development of a new class of targeted alpha radiopharmaceuticals to treat a broad range of solid tumor cancers. The candidate for Peptide Analytical Chemistry will work in a cross-functional environment to purify, characterize, and perform method development of novel peptides. Through program team membership, the individual will contribute intellectually to developing solutions to program-related challenges, organizing and facilitating chemistry efforts, and building expertise that contributes to furthering company objectives. This role will allow the individual to engage with all facets of early lead discovery to lead optimization. BACKGROUND/TRAINING

• Biopharmaceutical purification experience in peptide-based drug discovery and/or analytical/purification chemistry preferably for conjugated peptides
• BS/MS with 5-7 years of experience OR PhD with 1-3 years of experience

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated ability to successfully purify and characterize peptides utilizing analytical and peptide chemistry knowledge; proficiency in multiple analytical techniques for peptide characterization including an assessment of physiochemical properties. These qualifications will include:

• Expertise in reverse phase UV-triggered/Mass-directed HPLC chromatography for purification of peptides/peptide conjugates in milligram/multi-milligram amounts, in support of internal discovery efforts
• High comfort level with working in a fast-paced environment providing compound purification, characterization, and analysis in support of weekly assays
• Expertise in characterization techniques including HPLC/UPLC-MS, CD, DSC, SEC, DLS
• Assessment of physiochemical properties of peptides e.g. solubility, chemical/thermal stability, and aggregation, in support of internal discovery efforts
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining equipment in a fast-paced environment
• Management of peptide inventory and compound registration
• Experience working with outside vendors and managing relationships with outsourcing partners
• Experience with mentoring others and aiding in their professional development

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience/familiarity with solid-phase peptide synthesis
