Salary Range:

$93,473 - $132,672 (Grade D - Hay Points : 594 )

Compression Rate: $128,500 (UTLO)

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for responding to and conducting bus investigations meeting New York State Public Transportation Safety Board (PTSB) criteria, which includes bus fires, mechanical failures, collisions resulting in five (5) or more injuries, and fatal accidents, on a 24/7, 365 day per year basis. This position entails the preparation of comprehensive incident/accident reports involving all aspects of Department of Buses (DOB) and MTA Bus activities including, but not limited to, personnel, training, operations, maintenance, and repair activities. The purpose of the investigations and report preparation is to determine casual and contributing factors and to recommend corrective actions in order to eliminate or reduce the potential for future incidents/accidents, ensuring the safety of our customers, employees, and bus fleet.

Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years satisfactory experience in safety, bus operations, inspection, repair, and maintenance of various model buses within the NYCT and MTA Bus Company; a minimum of two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory position.
  • A thorough geographical knowledge of all five boroughs and surrounding areas that may encompass MTA Bus and NYCT D.O.B operating areas. Knowledge of NYCT Department of Buses and/or MTA Bus Company operations and organization is required along with an understanding of safety policies, rules, and current labor contracts and agreements or;
  • A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
    • Must possess a valid Driver's license.

    Desired Skills :
    • A bachelor's degree in safety management or a related field .
    • Knowledge of NYCT rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Knowledge of investigative skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of working in a large, unionized workforce.
    • Knowledge of road operations.
