Summary:

Responsible for managing the lifecycle of the INTERCEPT Blood System products. Works with cross-functional project teams to define, prioritize, plan, and drive the implementation of new products, product enhancements and extensions to meet customer requirements and corporate objectives. Requires extensive interaction with all Cerus functional departments globally and with external contractors and customers.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Represent the commercial perspective on development teams and change control cross-functional teams:
    • Communicate, clarify, and champion the customer requirements and commercial needs
    • Assess the commercial impact of development constraints and/or trade-offs
    • Assist in problem solving to address technical, schedule, and/or resource challenges
    • Communicate and vet commercial impacts of proposed development suggestions or trade-offs
  • Lead commercial launch planning in collaboration with Marketing and other commercial operations colleagues. Develop launch strategies and plans. Create and execute on the approved product launch plans.
  • Lead human factors assessments, including facilitating work with consultants and customer-facing teams.
  • Provide support to other commercial activities as appropriate to further the INTERCEPT portfolio Examples: tenders, regulatory submissions, customer feedback/complaints, development of quality system documentation, etc.
  • To be effective in the responsibilities above, the individual will:
    • Develop subject matter expertise on INTERCEPT products
    • Continuously gather customer input, keep abreast of competing products, monitor transfusion medicine industry dynamics and assess impacts to the business
    • Adhere to applicable regulations (e.g., ISO 13485), processes and procedures


Qualifications/Requirements/Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree relevant to transfusion medicine industry and/or business role preferred; MBA desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years product management experience in medical devices or related products. Past work on:
      • Conducting market research with health care customers
      • Authoring product requirements
      • Participating in critical design choices
      • Overseeing human factors assessments
      • Contributing to marketing campaigns
      • Leading the commercialization of products, including in new geographies
  • Relevant skills:
    • Customer engagement, listening and advocacy with internal colleagues
    • Problem solving and formulating recommendations
    • Project management
    • Interpersonal savvy with cross-functional team members in a matrix organization
    • Proactiveness - confident to voice opinions in a group setting and demonstrates initiative
    • Drive for results
    • Excellent communication skills. Creates clearly written documents. Organizes and runs effective meetings. Delivers sharp presentations.
    • Adaptability and able to work effectively on multiple projects concurrently
    • Working with colleagues and customers in multiple geographies
  • Prior transfusion medicine industry experience is desirable
  • Travel estimated at 10-25% including occasional weekends. Travel may be domestic or international.

Compensation: The base salary range for this position if candidate is based in the the SF bay area $165,000-$190,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on various factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
