- Position Summary
- The Project Manager for Plant Operations Disign & Construction is a responsible project management position relating to construction projects. Primary work includes administering project budgets, monitoring construction activities, and ensuring adherence of the contractors to the construction schedule and construction documents. Work may also include coordinating the work of the design professional, providing construction estimates, reviewing estimates submitted by others, reviewing shop drawings, and facilitating in the design and/or construction phases of the project. The work is directed and reviewed by the Director of Design & Construction through meetings, examination of budget books, plans and various work activities. The position may involve input into long-range planning activities coordinated by the MaineHealth Planning Department.
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: A professional level of knowledge in engineering, plant operations, maintenance, and construction administration, normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: Knowledge of the building design process, all building systems and equipment, and the ability to manage projects at a level normally acquired through approximately 5 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of AIA contracts, forms and procedures, necessary to enter into a legal agreement with an architectural consultant and/or contractor.
- Knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the field of architecture and engineering as they relate to the healthcare industry.
- Ability to express ideas clearly, orally, in writing, as well as graphically through drawings and sketches.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital employees and outside hospital contacts.
- Knowledge and basic understanding of the Critical path Method (CPM) of project scheduling.
- Knowledge of IBM compatible computer systems with specific experience in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge and experience with the International Building Code and Life Safety Code, ADA, AIA documents, asbestos abatement, electrical, mechanical/plumbing and building maintenance, HVAC and energy conservation, and the Joint Commission.
- Ability to manage all aspects of projects up to the $25 million range
- Knowledge of construction estimating practices.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles of credits and debits necessary to maintain project budgets.
